When this time of year rolls around, the season of Lent for Christians, the urge to listen to a Bach passion is quite natural. This weekend the Washington Bach Consort returns to the composer’s exalted St. Matthew Passion, one of the masterworks of music history. In the revolving podium arrangement in place since the unexpected death of the group’s beloved director, J. Reilly Lewis, Kenneth Slowik will conduct. Soloists include Robert Petillo, Christòpheren Nomura, Jolle Greenleaf, and Aaron Sheehan. This performance takes place 3 p.m. Sunday at National Presbyterian Church. bachconsort.org.
