At the end of next season, Michael Tilson Thomas will step down as music director of the San Francisco Symphony, after a quarter-century at the helm. MTT visits Washington one final time with this beloved ensemble, 8 p.m. Saturday, presented by Washington Performing Arts at the Kennedy Center Concert Hall.

By comparison to their last visit here in 2016, the orchestra is playing a somewhat conservative program: Beethoven’s Third Symphony (“Eroica”) and Mozart’s Violin Concerto No. 3, with Christian Tetzlaff as soloist.

In a fitting tribute to their conductor, the program opens with Tilson Thomas’s own composition, Agnegram, a five-minute piece composed in 1998 for the 90th birthday of San Francisco Symphony patron Agnes Albert. washingtonperformingarts.org; 202-785-9727
