Welcome to Washington Classical Review. Those who are familiar with our five previous websites (click the Elsewhere button at the top) will know what we’re all about. But for newcomers we hope to bring some of the same honest, intelligent, stylish and insightful arts coverage to the classical music scene in the Washington-Baltimore area, as we have with our previous sites in Boston, Chicago, New York, and South Florida.

I am especially happy that my friend and colleague Charles Downey will be joining me in this new venture. DC readers will be familiar with Charles’ excellent work on his Ionarts blog and I am delighted that he will bring those same skills as music critic as well as associate editor to WCR.

As with our other sites, the success of Washington Classical Review will depend in large part on our advertising partnerships. We rely almost entirely on ad support for our operation and to pay our writers; the more advertising we receive, the more wide-ranging and comprehensive our coverage can be. Ads are prominent on every page and rates are reasonable. Click on the Advertise button for more information.

Finally, a couple housekeeping notes. Please send news items, press releases, and coverage inquiries to Charles who will handle the daily flow of information in his capacity as WCR associate editor. As overall editor, I will make review and article assignments in consultation with Charles; please contact me for all advertising inquiries and broader editorial issues.

The encore for the Apollo Concert yesterday by guitarist Ana Vidovic was Asturias by Isaac Albeniz.

Please forward to the reviewer ASAP who requested the into. THANKS!
